I recently read a post by one of my favorite bloggers Stephanie O’Dea- A Year of Slow Cooking on Making Real Money Blogging. She offered some great tips that I may give a try. The best part is how up front she is. Steph is also a very giving person and it comes through on her blog.
As for my blog, I make a little money but nothing even near what Stephanie was making two years ago. I make a little from the current BlogHer ads and when someone downloads my cookbook.
Right now blogging is not my full time job although I wish it was. I love coming up with new recipes, cooking them and sharing them. I still have a lot to learn, but I love it. One of the best parts is the community of people I get to interact with.
So you may be wondering why I would need to earn money on my blog. Well my blog is not free to me. I have to pay annual and monthly costs associated with all that I do here. I’m not very technical so I have someone help with that, Mary at Provirtual Solutions. She’s great! I’m also spending money to go to conferences to learn how to take better pictures of food and write a better recipe among other things. Yes I do get to travel and that’s fun or else I would not be doing this.
No one is forcing me to do this so I realize if I don’t make enough money to cover my expenses, well I just need to keep that day job to pay for my joy of food.
